ARCH1102 Studio Exp2 - Unreal The Ramp-

Charles Darwin

The first ramp

The ramp for the first quote is constructed from 2 to 4 long rectangular prisms lying unorder beside each other to indicate that when these long rectangular prisms combine together, it will be more comfortable to run through as the quote mentions that little things when combine will be more precious.

Space that has glass wall that can see the other end of the ramp

Thus, the player starts from the first space where it is a dead-end so the player will only have the chance to follow the ramp. The main ramp will lead to many different spaces. The second space where the ramp goes do not connect to any spaces so the player has to continue following the main ramp. It then leads to the third space and it is again a dead-end but the player can see behind the glass wall that the main ramp will connect to the second quote space. Therefore, the player continues by passing through the main ramp and finally found the next space which is for Stephen Hawking.

Entrance of the ramps

The second space consists of two ramps entrances. It started with bright lights and ended in a dark space as the quote becomes unclear.

Inside of each ramp

It is said by Stephen Hawking that it is not clear that intelligence has any long-term survival value. Therefore, there are two ramps, each leads to a dead-end space and the brightness of the light is decreasing as the player is approaching the dead-end space. As it is a dead-end, the player still can see the second space where the other ramp leads to. Therefore, it is sort of an unclear end.

Overall

The main idea is that the player follow the ramps where each ramp has its own destination until the last space which is a dead-end that indicates an unclear journey. Moreover, this was emphasised by the fading light when past through the ramps of the second quote space.

New Quote

"It is not clear that doing what little one can to increase the general stock of knowledge as respectable an object of life
has any long-term survival value."

By knowing that there is an intention to do different little things that can increase the amount of information. Therefore, this space is using various light colors to show the various things to be done and when they squash, they enrich each other.

Stephen Hawking

By understanding that the long-term survival of intelligence is unclear, the overall sense of this space is indistinct. This is by giving nearly similiar brightness and just using one color which is red. Thus, the color doesn't blend contrastly with the surrounding.

The main idea is that as little things can develop into great things. Therefore, the rectangular prisms are getting closer with each other in order to form a more compact space.

Stephen Hawking

The main idea is that there is something unclear whether intelligence has long-term survival value. Therefore, there are substractions of rectangular prisms in order to break up the connection.
